Glossary
Quick definitions for the Pre system and its named workstreams.
Pre
The integrated institution and continuity system. Use Pre Foundation for the legal 501(c)(3) parent and Pre BI for its wholly owned program-service subsidiary when distinction is necessary.
Pre Account
A durable holon and the default custody, authority, billing, export, restore, and succession boundary for a person, family, organization, archive, community, or separately governed initiative. It is not synonymous with a login, legal entity, hostname, database, or provider tenant.
*.pre.bi
Pre's canonical network namespace. A hostname such as <slug>.pre.bi is a reversible external binding to a Pre Account or system surface. The hostname supports lookup and projection but grants no identity, ownership, membership, or authority by itself.
Beneficial Intelligence
Intelligence constrained to serve the interests, rights, relationships, provenance, and authority of the people and communities represented by the records it uses.
Presertion
The durable relational knowledge layer. Its primitive is a Sertion, an immutable addressable relation that may itself participate in other relations.
HARnest
Holonic Agent Relay Nest: durable relational agency, coordination, evidence, approvals, context grants, handoffs, and unfinished work.
Har
Holonic Agent Relay: the candidate Pre-native realtime relational membrane. Currently a contract and architectural boundary, not a claimed fork.
Stow
The proposed browser and local encounter environment through which human and agentic computer use holonizes the Internet.
Stowaway
The purpose-use preservation, Reader, and tab-discipline tool that becomes an early Stow client.
External binding
A reversible mapping between a canonical Pre object and a provider, hostname, domain, email address, repository object, payment object, or other external representation. External deletion does not delete canonical history.
Account holon
The complete usable expression of one Pre Account: admitted account identity, network binding, membership and authority, governed records, purpose-specific surfaces, account-scoped work, and a complete export.
Stewardship
A deliberately priced continuing obligation to maintain, review, preserve, operate, or support an account after an implementation phase. Stewardship should be explicit rather than hidden inside indefinite consulting dependence.
Holopunk
The metaphysical and design stance that rebels against atomization: wholes exist through relations, participate in larger wholes, and should not be flattened or erased by aggregation.
Mortmain
An internal philosophical term for constituted continuity after biological presence, emphasizing succession and governance rather than indefinite domination by the dead.
Right to be Remembered
The claim that a person's or community's records and continuity should not disappear through neglect, platform failure, dispossession, or time.
Right to be Respected
The corresponding duty that preserved records remain subject to dignity, provenance, context, privacy, correction, dissent, succession, and legitimate authority.
Agentic permanence
Durable participant identity, context, history, relationships, obligations, and succession independent of any one model invocation or provider.
Epistemic permanence
Durable, attributable knowledge that retains sources, disagreement, correction, and provenance across time.
